I do want to say how much I enjoy Olive Garden, but unfortunately they have sold out American Exceptionalism for something far less. Here is the story:

Marti Warren is an 80-year-old woman who recently booked an Olive Garden in Oxford, Alabama for a Kiwanis club awards banquet. She was amazed when she arrived to setup the event and was told that she couldn’t bring an American flag into the restaurant. Warren is quoted saying, “This is not my country. This is not my country I grew up with.” Having lived through World War II, Warren continues by reflecting on her patriotism and love for the country, and then, “I was so angry, I felt like I had been slapped in the face!”.

WBRC-TV Reports: That slap came from the Oxford Olive Garden. One hour before the Golden K Kiwanis club‘s awards banquet the restaurant manager told Warren she couldn’t bring in their banner or even an American flag. “I said having known this earlier you can bet we never would have eaten here. And I said if we had time we would have gone to McDonald’s because we know they are American all the way through,” said Warren

In response to the incident, Olive Garden released this statement:

“Like all Americans we have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for the American flag and everything it symbolizes. In fact, we periodically provide American flag collar pins to our employees to wear while serving our guests.  We understand and appreciate the way some people have reacted to the situation in Oxford and we’re very sorry if this decision has caused them any concern. The Oxford Olive Garden does not have a private dining area. To be fair to everyone and avoid disrupting the dining experience for all other guests, they’re unable to accommodate flags or banners of any type in the dining room.”

However their statement is disputed by Mrs. Warren. In fact she says they told her she’d be in banquet room three. And as for being in the way, they were seated in the back by the kitchen. “I resent that. I do resent that. I‘m about truthfulness and that’s not truthful,” said Warren.

Mrs. Warren called ahead and she was approved for banquet room three to conduct her ceremony. If the American flag is part of her ceremony, then leave her alone! Olive Garden’s parent company has gone too far in dictating Multiculturalism and pandering to the Obama administration. Pandering to the Obama administration? Yes! Darden Restaurants have been in talks with the Obama administration on varies subjects. For instance they recently partnered with Michelle Obama’s “Partnership for a Healthier America” by cutting the calorie and sodium levels of menu items by 10 percent with the next five years and 20 percent in the next 10 years.  I bet they’ll give to his reelection campaign next.

Mrs. Warren and her club are calling for a boycott of Olive Garden, but I can’t bring myself to participate…yet.

I’ve had to ask myself why I’m bothered by this article so much. The answer revolves around the constant vitriol from the left that demonizes the Tea Party movement. The Democratic Party is full of members who are outspoken with radical and vocal ideas. For more examples of this, you can read the upcoming series on Tea Party Hatred.

In the city of San Juan Capistrano California, Chuck and Stephanie Fromm hold a bi-weekly Bible study in their home and backyard. They estimate 20 people on Wednesdays and around 50 on Sundays, but there is more than enough room on their acreage to accommodate larger crowds.

During one of their Bible studies, the city police arrived and told them to shut the Bible study down or face a penalty. They refused and were fined $300, however it was not because of a noise or parking violations, as some might expect. Instead, the city cited code 9-3.301 which “prohibits religious organization in residential neighborhoods without a conditional-use permit”.

“Imposing a heavy-handed permit requirement on a home Bible study is outrageous,” said Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, which is working on the case on behalf of the Fromms.  ”In a city so rich with religious history and tradition, this is particularly egregious. An informal gathering in a home cannot be treated with suspicion by the government, or worse than any other gathering of friends, just because it is religious. We cannot allow this to happen in America, and we will fight as long and as hard as it takes to restore this group’s religious freedom.”
If the Bible study continues without the proper “permits” then the Fromms face a $500 fee per gathering.

The school nurse was monitoring the parking lot when the school bus pulled and she noticed an American Flag on a 24 inch wooden pole through the bus window. She immediately identified it as a “safety hazard” and stopped all the children from getting off of the bus. She called Shawn out to come to front of the bus and confiscated the “potential weapon”.

The Co-Principal Kimberly Lyndes stands by the nurses actions and says, “A student came to school yesterday with a flag that was rather large and didn’t fit inside the backpack,” she said. “A staff member felt that it could potentially be dangerous because of the pointy end and took the item and let the student know and the parent know that they took the item and could pick it up.” She maintains that the school is not unpatriotic and that the Pledge of Allegiance is recited by the students every day; in addition, there is a flag in every classroom. She concludes that the actions of the nurse were also not a reflection of her lack of patriotism, but rather her dedication to school safety.

Glenn Beck TV offers two hours of Glenn each day and many special programs. Here is what Glenn himself says about GBTV:

“We view GBTV as Netflix in a way, as HBO in way,” said Beck. “People know when you go to HBO it’s good quality. My audience is loyal because they don‘t necessarily know what I’m going to do, but they know it will be worth their time, I try not to waste their time, and it will be good quality.”

Glenn had a fantastic idea and ran with it, now its paying off. He is expected to make $20 million dollars this year, which is $17 million more then he made a Fox News. Some might challenge that Glenn is doing this for the money, however, I truly believe he cares about the ideas he is promoting. His show from CNN, to Fox, and now GBTV has went against conventional wisdom for a political talk show. Who would have thought that a controversial gray haired guy with a chalkboard who talks about history would make it in an entertainment focused culture?
